A lot changes in a year.
12 creatives show us how their self-expression, like the world, is always evolving.
A lot changes in a year. Our style. Our passions. Who we are and who we want to become. Now, our tattoos can change with us.
We invited 12 creatives to express who they are right now with made-to-fade tattoos that disappear completely in a year.
The result? A year without regrets.

Meet Genesis
“We’re constantly evolving. Let’s live in the moment.”
Genesis Vega
@genvegaa
It’s impossible to ignore Genesis. It’s not just her ever-changing neon hair color or her eclectic style that seems to toggle between genres in a split second. Or even her ability to be an actress and a model and work on a clothing line and make music all at the same time. She grabs our attention because no matter what Genesis is wearing, doing, or experimenting with, she is always 100% Genesis.
So a lower back tattoo of her favorite flower from her favorite manga movie was an obvious choice for her first ink. “My Ephemeral helps me express myself through a phase,” she explains, wearing true-to-the-era low-rise shorts and a g-string to show off the design. “I love showing my creative side not only with my thoughts but with my body. And who knows if I’ll want this in a year!”
For Genesis, a year from now means an eternity of change. And we’re here to see it through.
“Regret nothing means whatever happens, you don’t have to look back and think to do it differently. You take your lessons from your past and apply it to the new you.”
Genesis Vega
Meet Faith and Sasha
The spirit of “regret nothing” is crystal clear when you meet Faith and Sasha, two uninhibited New York models who take on every day like it’s a full-fledged adventure. Dancing, singing, acting, modeling—they do it all or will at least try anything once.
“Sometimes I overthink things,” admits Sasha, who after some indecision chose classical theater masks for her first Ephemeral on her lower back—a double dose of drama. “I’m going to start living and regretting less,” she vows. And with Faith by her side, the two are unstoppable. Confident, impulsive, and bold—Faith let’s her style, and her tattoos, set the trends. She has many tattoos but her first Ephemeral, a powerful sword on her arm, was a mantra to help her lead in battle.
Sasha and Faith are naturally both leading ladies, but unlike most bright stars, they only make each other shine brighter.
“I try to live life without regrets by being extremely impulsive. All the time.”
Faith Harper

Meet Charlie
As a poet, copywriter, screenwriter, fiction writer, and sometimes branded content creator, Lee, aka Charlie, is a storyteller in every sense of the word. But for the creative turned model, this is far from her final act: she writes her own story as she goes, embracing the plot twists as building blocks to her future self. “Expressing yourself comes when you dress up,” Charlie explains. “It’s like cosplay.” And her tattoos are just as important in crafting her character.
Some of her tattoos are just “doodles,” used as a way to adorn her body, while others are odes to memories, her family, or words that inspire her. Her Ephemeral, across her stomach, is her biggest tattoo yet, and fittingly shows a battle between a warrior and a dragon from her favorite J.R.R. Tolkien fantasy. Though her epic tattoo will eventually fade, Charlie’s adventure is just getting started.
“I use my tattoos to decorate my body. Some have meaning, some don’t.”
Lee "Charlie" Phillips
Meet Pojo and Tiff
“I met Pojo at an event that my ex happened to be at,” Tiffany remembers. “She encouraged me to not talk to him, and we’ve been best friends ever since.” When you meet podcast hosts and models Phoebe (better known as Pojo) and Tiffany, it’s immediately apparent they have each other’s back—and everyone else’s. It’s not just their natural wit that makes them approachable, it’s their dedication to self love and helping people that lets them stand out as wholeheartedly genuine.
Always discussing love or food or both, the two friends are all about indulgence
—whether it’s passionately disagreeing about pineapple on pizza on Pojo’s podcast, “Model’s That Eat,” or feelings on Tiffany’s dating podcast, “Night Out.” “We have a creative community that is very accepting,” says Pojo. “We don’t need to act like everything is ok all the time.”
Even their first tattoos encapsulate that free-to-be-me spirit. Both women got a design that celebrates who they are right now without any worry of who or what they will become. That energy is contagious, proving that together, this duo could make even the most reserved feel free.
“My tattoo is all about celebrating the crazy year that it’s been. The ups and downs and multiple rounds.”
Tiffany Baira
Meet Rhamier
Rhamier is a poet, but it’s not just through words that they express themselves—it’s a rhythm that leads how they dress, speak, listen, and take action. Whether Rhamier is modeling for a fashion campaign with brands like Rachel Comey, or working with their anti-imperialist organization Black Alliance for Peace, they do it all with beautiful poetic intention.
Rhamier’s tattoos also take action by silently playing a role in how the world perceives them. “All my tattoos are political. They are personal, but they also speak to how I fit into society. They all tell a story.” Rhamier’s first Ephemeral is an ode to their Haitian roots, commemorating the year of the Haitian Revolution, 1804, on their neck. The fact that it fades only adds to Rhamier’s way of flowing through life, letting their style change and evolve as they do, at their own personal rhythm.
“My tattoos are a reflection of my journey. Where I came from, who I am, and where I’m going.”
Rhamier Balagoon

Meet Bebi Monsuta
It’s not just their sister energy that makes Akira and Manami a literal force, the New York-born musical duo known as Bebi Monsuta has a glowing aura around them that feels almost holy. Fusing inspiration from their culture into their music, Bebi Monsuta is a mash-up of kawaii-hop, rock, and Brazilian funk, with a soft edge. In their most recent EP release, “11:11,” their lyrics urge radical self-love and magical thinking.
“When we’re under the influence of natural earthly substances such as creativity, that’s when we feel most ourselves,” says Manami. Their Ephemerals speak to this heightened state: each sister got a symbolic reptile on their arm for both power and protection.
Together, when they’re on stage, or in front of the camera, Akira and Manami combine their power and transcend to another place—building everyone one up in their path.
“Our motto is ‘we have a fear of fear.’ We try to live life and do what we love without fear.”
Bebi Monsuta
Meet Abe
“Even if it doesn’t have a lifelong story, every tattoo has a message.”
- Abraham Winter
@akwinna
One of the first things you notice about Abraham Winters, besides his piercing baby blues, is the dedication to tattoos on his body.
Highly detailed, beautifully ornate black pieces cover his thighs - each design honoring someone special in his life. His Ephemeral is no different: a stick of dynamite to represent his two boston terriers, Tulip and Teacup, nicknamed Tn’T because of their often explosive relationship.
As an actor and model, Abe’s tattoos are both a form of self-expression and identity, the story of each piece forming an ever-evolving map through the moments in his life. He plans to keep adding to his tattoos forever. “Every tattoo has a message,” laughs Abe, “dumb or brilliant–it’s all a story.”
Who knows, maybe in a year when the Ephemeral fades, his dogs will have changed their ways, too.
“My tattoos play a part of my self-expression. They represent what I’ve gone through and my relationships.”
Abraham Winter
Meet Samia & Carmen
Samia and Carmen met on the Internet at 18. “I thought she was so cute!” remembers Carmen.
The two models instantly bonded over a love of clashing patterns and an unexpected shyness. Together, they found they balanced eachother out, pushing the other to go further and take risks.
On set it was no different. Despite it being their first time photographed together, the chemistry was natural. It led to dreams of the future - more shoots, a trip to Mozambique, maybe even a friendship tattoo.
“It’s my first tattoo and I guess I feel cooler. I like to show it off. I like when people ask what it is.”
Samia Hamps
“I don’t think of myself as a tattoo person. But I love them. I love having a flower on me.”
Carmen Fozzard
